Don’t be surprised by this, but six months of daily, nonstop ab workouts generally doesn’t produce a set of killer abs.
Thousands of crunches and sit ups will improve your abdominal strength and help prevent injuries to your lower back but crunches alone aren’t the answer to how to get 6 pack abs.
If you want a set of show-off abs you will need a better starting place than exercises, your diet. If your abs are currently buried beneath a ten pound layer of fat a good fat burning diet is the place to start.

Fitness Tip: Proper Dieting and 6 Pack Abs
My advice is to start eating 5 to 6 smaller meals per day rather than the typical 3 large meals. Your body is better able to utilize the calories in the smaller meals and your metabolism will realize a boost which means you will start burning fat more efficiently.
I hear you asking the question, “What should I eat for all of these smaller meals? I hate planning for three meals let alone planning for six.” The answer is simple, stick with your normal three meal plan but divide each meal in half. Eat each half meal approximately three hours apart.
Another tip is to drink a glass of water before you begin eating so that you aren’t as hungry for the food and will therefore be able to cut back on your calorie intake.
You probably don’t drink enough water anyway, and the water will help cut the hunger pangs so that you won’t eat more than you need. Chances are you eat too many calories per meal, so cutting back on calories will go a long way towards helping you lose weight.
Fitness Tip: Avoid This Diet Mistake
Don’t make the mistake that some people make of cutting back on their calorie intake too much. Severe calorie reduction is just another name for starvation diet.
Starvation diets don’t work. Your body considers calorie restriction as an attack on it. Your body kicks in it’s self-preservation mechanism and slows down the fat burning process to a crawl.
Fitness Tip: Large Meals and Health Risks
Skipping meals and eating more food than your body can use in one giant meal doesn’t work either.
The unused food is stored as fat. And even though you technically eat fewer calories during a mega-meal than you would for a number of small meals your metabolism will not work efficiently.
Aside from the fat storing problems that large meals pose you also run a dangerous health risk by overeating. What is that health risk? Your pancreas has to work overtime to provide enough insulin to counter the giant sugar spike blasting through your body after each meal.
This eating problem becomes more prominent with age. Why do you think so many people are getting late-onset diabetes these days? Do the math. Three large meals per day for forty years and your pancreas just gives out.
